QTV History

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Quality Television Network Inc. (QTVNI) is the secondary free-to-air UHF television network owned by GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) and in partnership with ZOE Broadcasting Network, Inc. (ZBNI). QTVNI began operations on 23 November 1963 as Manila Broadcasting Company Television 11 (MBC TV-11) and and it's affiliated with the that broadcasts in Chinese although the station also aired Tamil programmes at the time of daily transmissions were subsequently extended to 5-hours in weekday and 10-hours in weekend.

On 1 February 1980, MBC-11 evolved into the Delta Broadcasting System (DBS-11) under the El Shaddai DWXI Prayer Partners Foundation and affliated with the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) Eight Frequency.

The station, known as ZOE TV-11 (affiliated with TCS-8) under the Jesus is Lord Church Worldwide, along with its sister stations ABC-5 (affiliated with TCS-5) and NBC-12 (affliated with TCS-12), were privatized on 1 October 1994 and became a part of the new MediaQuest TV Network.

On 1 September 1995 by the Tamil programmes were transferred to Prime 12 (now Vasantham) on NBC-12 (DWNB-TV 12).

On 27 September 1995 at midnight, ABC-5 (DWET-TV) and ZOE-11 (DZOE-TV) began 24-hour transmission in daily, while Malay and Tamil programmes (previously aired on ABC-5 and DBS-11, respectively) were moved to TV12 such as: Prime 12 (later Suria) on NBC-12 (DWNB-TV 12) and Premiere 12 (later Central) on RBC-15 (DZRN-TV 15) programming.

Following the second EDSA People Power Revolution in 2001, ZOE TV was renamed Quality Television (QTV-11).

In 2004, the network became a commercial-owned television network known as Quality Television Network, Inc. (QTVNI) by virtue of Republic Act No. 7306 which was signed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
